I don’t provide standard template designs for my clients. If you’re looking for cookie cutter designs, you’re in the wrong place. I design unique pieces that are tailored to your business and give clients variations to choose from. I don’t believe that a project can be created with a ‘one and done’ design. It takes in-depth questions and strategy to create a unique brand for your business. Every business is different and that’s the reason I don’t think that templated designs are beneficial for businesses who want to be unique and stand out.

My name is Kayla, I design brands for businesses and solo entrepreneurs. Building their client trust and expanding their growth through clear brand identity that is true to themselves and their business mission.

Who do I hire? How much does it cost? How long does it take? I don’t know where to start!
I get it. Hiring anyone to help you with a service beyond your means is scary. You want the PERFECT person, right? A plumber, a real estate agent, a babysitter, a hairdresser… no matter what the service is, choosing can be difficult and stressful.

Here is information on what to expect from me.
1. Save your business time and money
Time is money and your time is best spent focusing on your expertise. I don’t waste my time doing my taxes, car repairs, and other tasks outside of my skill set. It would take me hours… DAYS even. So, no thank you. If graphic design is not your expertise, then I can help free up your time so you can focus on your specialty! Spend more time with clients, following up on potential clients, and working on your day-to-day tasks. Take your business to the next level by outsourcing your design work. Get MORE done.
Hiring a freelancer can save your business money. You don’t have to pay to have someone in-house, paying their taxes, benefits, equipment, etc. With Kayla Martinez Design you pay for the agreed upon service cost at the beginning of a project as well as any additional variations and revision rounds that you approve to proceed on.
2. Work with someone who is incredibly responsive.
I am incredibly responsive. Yes, it’s worth saying again. Have you ever hired someone to do a job and then they mysteriously disappear during the process? Or it takes them days, even weeks to respond? I’m the opposite of that. I am in touch regularly to keep the project and timelines on track. Don’t believe me? I respect people’s time and I expect people to respect mine. I have boundaries and I’m guessing you do to! I will not be emailing you in the middle of the night pestering you to look at a design round immediately. So don’t worry about that, but if you are a lagger or a procrastinator on reviewing files and emails, then I am going to drive you crazy. Lol! I’m just keeping it real for you. You are responsible for your projects exceeding a deadline if you haven’t reviewed a design round in a timely manner. I am a master of keeping projects on track.
3. You’re SO over newbie designers. Don’t worry, I’ve got some years under my belt.
I have over 12 years of experience as a graphic designer. The frustration of working with a newbie can be enough to make it worth paying more upfront to pay a professional to do the job. If you’re thinking, “I can find someone who charges less”. My response… Of course you can. I am not the cheapest graphic designer and I don’t pretend that I’m the cheapest graphic designer around. If you’re looking for cheap work, you won’t find that here. I will explain that more in #4, you’ll see below.
Also, a newbie designer can actually COST you money. If a job isn’t done right the first time and you have to pay someone else to fix what they did or start fresh because it’s unsalvageable, then did you really save money?
4. Someone who will dive deep to understand your business.
I don’t act like a cheap designer either. From the beginning of the project I want to get to know YOU so that I can understand your business from behind the scenes to what your audience sees. All of my clients are required to complete a Creative Brief at the start of a project. I want to know about you and your business. If you think it’s pointless and don’t want to put in the effort to complete a Creative Brief take a look at my blog post, What is a Creative Brief and Why is it SO Important?
If you still don’t think a Creative Brief matters, then maybe it’s time to part ways. Except, I know that you’re a hustlin’ go-getter who isn’t afraid to put in the time and effort to get an amazing branding and graphic design project done for their business.
Beyond the Creative Brief I ask in-depth questions to fully understand what you’re looking for with each project. I WANT you to get your DREAM brand, printed materials, and website. There are very specific steps to get there and I will be there with you every step of the way. You’ve got to put in the work. I believe in you!
5. Get a clear picture of the process from beginning to end from the start.
Timelines vary from project to project, but a timeline, project goals, variation quantities, revision rounds, and deliverables are established before the project even starts. I will clearly write all of that out for you before the project begins so that we are on the same page when starting a project. When I work with my clients we are a TEAM. This is not a single-sided project. It’s collaborative. Quite frankly, I only want to work with people who actually, excuse the language… give a sh*t about their business.
