DC United Sponsorship Graphics
About Paylocity:
Paylocity is a software company that specializes in HR & Payroll with many features within it’s app to make the employee lifecycle smooth from hire to retire.
Their Business Needs and Goals:
Paylocity gained a sponsorship with the DC United and needed to deliver designed motion graphics to the DC United team to have Paylocity branding in-stadium during DC United home games for the season.
The Solution to Their Needs:
The Creative and Content Team worked together to strategize our message for the in-stadium design assets. The field-level LED Animation Board list for each stadium included: MT Bank Stadium, Audi Stadium, and Non-DCU Events.
Results:
This was an amazing project to work on and had great results! Supporting both this and the Utah Mammoth Sponsorship with impactful graphics in-stadium that prospects would see during the games made a great impression. The Sales Team was using these sponsorships to close bottom of funnel leads in the sales process. Here is the data of DC United and Utah Mammoth events combined:
- 13 events
- +40% Close Rate
- +$700K in Submitted Revenue
Season Graphics
For the animated graphics we chose 2 lines that we wanted to see animated to choose between.
Animation Options and Design Thought Process
Clean shows a slide tackle that misses the attacking player entirely to show an action shot, but with no contact. Leaning into the ‘Keep every play clean’ copy. Using the sliding player to reveal the second line of text.
Chant puts the focus on the crowd cheering for the team. It’s a drone shot scanning over the stadium to put emphasis on the line ‘You chant it’. The original text was “We Are United”, but was changed to “Vamos United” after watching a video of actual fans chanting in the stadium and they say “Vamos United” to root for their team. We wanted to lean into that existing culture with the team and I thought it was a really cool adjustment to the design.
I mocked them up against the other stadium graphics to see how everything would play together in the live environment. The team selected “Chant”. I liked both animations equally so I was happy either way. In hindsight I’m glad “Chant” was selected because of the lean into the team’s culture with the “Vamos United” text edit. Then it was time to export the file to be stadium ready.
I was lucky enough to see my graphics live on tv myself during the first game of the season. It was a really cool moment and I couldn’t believe it was happening. Another big project I am grateful to have been apart of.
2 variations mocked up for round 1 of review on the bottom and final design on the top.

Static Graphics
I was given copy options for the static ads I needed to create for DC United. I built out all copy options so the team could see how each one looked and picked their favorite based on text content as well as visual layout.
or the new graphic I used the same process as the stadium graphics. I mocked them up to see how all of the graphics played together across the stadium and then got approval. Then it was time to export and make these graphics stadium ready.
